Who we are:
We are ‘In A Space’. We are a new charity inspired by growing evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being. Since starting up in April 2020 we have been delivering weekly multimedia Zoom art classes for people of various backgrounds and abilities.

Taking pART opportunity:
Supported by the Kent Community Foundation and the Dulverton Trust we are offering commissions for artists to plan and deliver accessible art activities which prioritise the over 60’s In Swale, Kent, UK. The aim of these workshops is to inspire communication in the community so that particularly the vulnerable and isolated can be brought together to foster creative connections, enjoy a form of expression and learn or develop new skills.
We welcome artists of any disciplines who are based anywhere as long as they are able to lead the sessions physically at the chosen location. However, we are also looking for an artist who is flexible in the current Covid climate and who would be able to deliver sessions via zoom if circumstances require.
Taking pART workshops will aim to take place weekly between Mid May and July 2021. Exact dates and times can be shaped by the availability of the artist. The location within Swale, Kent is yet to be decided and applicants are welcome to bring forward ideas for this decision.
Session fees are £60 for one hour and £120 for 2 hours this includes materials and planning, set up and clearing time for the session. We are very keen for artists to take on a series of sessions within the time frame so let us know your availability when applying. Collaborations of artists/ teams are very welcome to apply however the rate will remain the same for the entire party.
Each workshop or series must be:
Able to fit within a clear timeframe of between one and two hours.
Accessible and inclusive.
Be aimed at the demographic of older people and those who have a non-art background.
Due to covid restrictions, the classes may begin small and then increase in the number of participants. For the safety of everyone involved government guidance will be strictly adhered to and therefore numbers of participants may be subject to change. The artist may also want to consider incorporating outside space for their sessions so that sessions can include more people.
